5 Inappropriate Places to Flirt

Earlier this week, an alternate juror in a home invasion murder trial was scolded by the judge. Why? Because during said trial, that juror passed a note to a court marshal asking him for a date, asking him to meet her at a restaurant.

The juror has not been removed from the trial, as other jurors have been dismissed throughout the trial. Judge Jon Blue told the alternate juror that although he is “a romantic at heart,” passing the note IN COURT “was a g*dd*mn dumb thing to do.” Vulgarity aside, this begs the question: is nothing sacred?

For added context, the trial at hand is one where jurors are to decide whether Steven Hayes will get the death penalty for a 2007 home invasion, for which he has already been convicted of the murders of a woman and her two daughters. And this juror was sending a note, asking for a DATE! Come on!

That being said, here are 5 more rather inappropriate places to flirt:

1)A funeral. If I need to explain this, there’s something seriously wrong with you. (But just in case you don’t get it: It’s a funeral!)

2)Work. Unless you specifically know that the other person is into you (and honestly, I don’t know how you’d do that), flirting at work can be a bad idea. At best, it makes things awkward for you and/or the object of your affection, and at worst, you could get slapped with a sexual harassment case. Yikes! This may be especially bad if your work crush is (gasp!) your boss. Don't do it!

3)The gym. While working out does release endorphins, and endorphins make people happy, you flirting with them at the gym may make them unhappy – most people would agree that at the gym, at their sweatiest and wearing sometimes unflattering clothes, is not their preferred place to be picked up.

4)At your kid’s school. Parent-teacher conferences might seem like a great ice breaker to chat up your 8-year old’s babe of a teacher, but let’s face it – dating your children’s teachers is a bad idea. How awkward would it be for your child to have dinner with you and the teacher? Pretty awkward. Think of the children!

5)When you get pulled over. The ol’ hair-flip might work on some cops, but in general, it’s probably a bad idea to try and flirt your way out of the ticket. In fact, some police officers may take offense to it  and give you the ticket because they think you deserve it more! Instead, apologize for whatever it was you were doing wrong, accept the consequences, and move on.
