People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA as they are more commonly known as, is launching an “animal-friendly” porn website! Just what you’ve been waiting for, am I right?
According to the International Herald Tribune, the aim of launching the website is to “raise awareness of veganism by offering pornographic material alongside graphic footage of animal mistreatment.”
Interestingly enough, many of PETA’s campaigns have featured exploitative photos of naked women, so now it just looks like they’re just cutting the middle man of “we love animals” and just showing off the skin.
The pictures of suffering animals apparently won’t be all over the site, though – “Internet surfers who visit the x-rated site will initially be presented with animal rights groups too salacious for TV ads and campaigns. However, the sexy side of PETA, illustrated in its galleries and videos, will give way to the horrific mistreatment of animals on factory farms, with pictures and videos shot undercover by the group’s hidden camera investigations.” So basically, you’ll only be inundated with cruelty-heavy videos and pictures after you’ve been watching porn for a while. Am I the only one who sees that this site is just going to bring out weirdos? People who love to watch people having sex but who also enjoy videos of animal brutality?
I don’t know about you guys, but I think perhaps PETA should stick to doing what they do best – promoting animal rights (via exploiting women the “old fashioned” way – by comparing them to pieces of meat in photo ads). Sigh. This is lose-lose. Gross.
