While many women have been on hellish dates, few can compete with Leah Gibbs, a 23-year-old woman from South Wales who was forced to drive a getaway car after her date committed armed robbery.

Leah met Adam Minton, 21, on a social networking site, and after a bit of chatting the pair decided to go on a date. During the outing, Minton asked Gibbs to stop at a betting shop and wait outside while he placed a bet. Leah complied and a few minutes later Adam ran from the shop with a knife in one hand and a bag of money in the other, screaming “drive, drive, drive.” A frightened Leah obeyed and police arrested the couple soon after they returned to Adam’s house. Police originally thought Gibbs was in on the robbery, but Minton eventually confessed that he’d acted alone.

"It was a date from hell,” Leah said. "I thought I'd be ending the night in Adam's arms. Instead, he had landed in the long arms of the law and I was facing jail. I'm grateful he told the police I knew nothing of the robbery, but still bitter he involved me.

Minton, a debt-ridden cocaine addict, was sentenced to four and a half years for the crime.
