Charlie Sheen and his goddess have brought attention to the concept of polyamory.  It is defined as the nonpossessive, honest responsible and ethical philosophy and practice of loving multiple people at the same time.  Most people who practice this consciously choose how many partners they want to be involved with.  It is contrary to the social norms of having one partner at a time.

Polyamory is essentially a sexual relationship with more than one partner.  Sexual equality and orientation are embraced in a serious, intimate, affectionate bond with a group of like minded people. Polyamorists consider this liefstyle to be responisble, intentional non-monogamy.

In Sheen’s case the goddesses who are rumored to be bi-sexual and involved with each other are also quite comfortable in a sexual relationship with the actor.
Sheen has been married three times and each time his relationships have failed. This failure supports the premise, shared by polyamorists that monogamy doesn’t work.  Polyamorists tend to think that the husband wife and 2.2 children is an aberration throughout human history. They think that a larger nuclear family or tribe is the way to go.  It also allows for a freedom of choice and is seen as a viable alternative to monogamy. 

Main stream society views polyamory as blatantly wrong. Is it?  Who really knows but polyamory is not polygamy.  It is not a collection of spouses, but an open relationship of several willing people.

Whether you are monogamous or perfer the alternative polyamorous lifestyle it still takes work and maturity.
