Reigning Miss USA Rima Fakih shared these dos and don’ts with AskMen.com to help gents get more girls.

Wear Nice Shoes

"For some reason, the first thing I notice in a man is his shoes. But it’s not to see how expensive or new they are. I think shoes or sneakers say a lot about a guy," she says.

Be Confident

"It’s always good to think as you approach a person that they’re human beings just like you are, and that you have absolutely nothing to lose. So it doesn’t hurt to go up there and introduce yourself," says Fakih.

Smell Good

This goes for your breath and your body. "It does not matter how you look; if you smell good, a girl would want to sit next to you," Fakih says. She suggests Listerine patches and Armani Code by Giorgio Armani.

Don’t Use Cheesy Pickup Lines

"The best contact comes in the spur of the moment. Sometimes it’s most likely a remark, a joke or a clever interaction, depending on the circumstances," she says. She gives an example of seeing a pretty lady in the market with apples in her cart. Walk over to her with an apple, saying she dropped it. When she looks puzzled and says "No I didn't", tell her you just wanted to hear her voice. That still sounds cheesy to me, but Fakih says she would feel flattered.

Don’t Give Up

"If a man keeps trying, that means I’m not just any woman that he’s interested in, I must be special. It shows that he cares,” she says. Try hitting on a crush at your local coffee shop, and if she rejects you, send flowers to her at work the next day.
