We all know the art of compromise is a cornerstone to great relationship. But what if you did not have to compromise? What if I told you there was a common household gadget that made your life easier, allowed for more free time and still let you watch your favorite show?
Well, behold the coveted DVR.
In a study conducted in 2008 and commissioned by NDS, a provider of technology solutions for digital pay TV. It was discovered that 80% of Americans with a DVR cannot live without it.
The DVR serves a unique and unexpected role in relationships too. The survey showed that owning a DVR lead to a happier life. The gadget allows you to record a show and watch it later. Some even let you record two shows at a time. That capability frees up time to spend with family and friends. It also limits disagreements among family members as to what to watch. That explains the 79% who said it improved their relationships.
The device was ranked as one of the top 3 household items deemed indispensable. Only the washing machine and microwave were considered more important. It was also considered the second most useful gadget behind the cell phone.
But the best feature is obviously its knack for saving a relationship. So plug in that DVR and enjoy a happier relationship with your significant other.
