How to Dodge Being Duped in Online Dating

Statistics show that online dating works. Nearly 40% of Americans are using internet dating services, but many are still concerned over safety. The main worry is that the handsome hunk or beautiful babe you're emailing is not accurately portrayed in their profile information or photos. A few simple tips will help you avoid disappointing disasters.

Be Prepared

Surveys have found that a large percentage of singles do tell little while lies on their profiles. Men often inflate figures regarding height and income, while ladies often subtract a few digits from weight and age. Knowing these facts up front will help you be more prepared when meeting in person.

Look at Photos Closely

One-third of online daters won't even look at a profile if it doesn't include at least one photo. When you are scoping out the sexy shots, be sure to scrutinize them. You should be able to tell from the quality if the photos are recent. Plus, any that are taken too far away or costumed in hats and sunglasses should cause suspicion.

Trust Your Gut

The best piece of advice to avoid the fakes and phonies is to trust your instincts. You should be able to tell after continual communication if the person is acting strangely. Watch out for the common warning signs like requesting money or professing love right away.

Only 2% of men and 9% of women find relationships from a barstool, so enjoy your cocktail at your computer instead and search for your cyber soul mate!

New Site Lets Moms Find Dates for Single Children

Meddling, matchmaking moms now have a new way to find their kid a date: Date My Single Kid!

Date My Single Kid is an online dating website that allows mothers to post dating profiles on behalf of their single, adult children. Interested suitors can respond to a profile by getting in touch with a single's mother (assuming mom thinks they're good enough, of course).

The website is the creation of Geri Brin, whose 31-year-old son, Colby, is "fit and funny, witty and willful, curious and cultured". Interested, ladies? Simply search "Colby" to get in touch (with his mother).

Believe it or not, Colby isn't embarassed by his mom's matchmaking attempts. As he recently told CNN:

"The way I look at it is I'm not sitting at home resting on my laurels. I'm meeting women, but she can also help. It can't hurt. I'm not embarrassed and I think it's pretty fun."

While it may seem strange, matchmaking parents are nothing new. Shaadi.com is a popular macthmaking site for Indian parents hoping to snag a spouse for their single children, and some parents in Japan throw matrimonial parties in attempt to marry off their offspring.

Dating can be tough. Why not let mom lend a helping hand?

$2,000 a Month to Find Your Match?

Billing itself as "the most expensive dating site on the Internet," RichOnlySingles.com is for wealthy men and women who want to find a partner whose income is as impressive as their own. The service is a staggering $2,000 a month. Needless to say, lowly commoners need not apply.

“We launched the website as the first luxury dating site on the Internet," owner Mark Shidler said in a press release. "For the first time wealthy singles can find financially compatible partners."

At this point in time, RichOnlySingles.com has 94 male members and 76 females (even though the FAQ says thousands meet on their site daily). If you want to find "The One," er "The One Who Has Money Like Me" than perhaps you should give the service a try.

Matchmaking services that focus on income are nothing new. In fact, Bravo has a popular reality show called "Millionaire Matchmaker." Most seem to feature rich men who are willing to date women from any income bracket, but a few sites seek to match wealthy men and women with one another much like RichOnlySingles is attempting.

To each his own, but our guess is that relationships built on money don't last.

Awkward Alternative to Internet Dating

Internet dating may have its fair share of scams and fraudsters, but posting up poorly spelled flyers with curious comments about yourself may not be the best alternative.

Some sad single thought he'd have better luck crafting his very own personal ad. Do you think he had hundreds of large breasted ladies ringing him up? Perhaps, if only to see that it wasn't actually a joke. Insane computer times we live in. Wow.

4 Benefits to Online Dating for Women

We have all become dependent on being able to find and communicate with anyone over the Internet. Dating is not a game of chance or luck anymore; everyone has the World as their dating pool.

Women especially can benefit greatly from online dating. Below are some of biggest benefits to taking their quest for love online.

Successful Online Dating Requires Good Communication - In order to successfully "woo" someone (worth anything) online, you need to be able to communicate clearly. Knowing that communication is an important requisite in a good relationship, this will give you an idea of your potential suitor's eloquence. This is better than, say, the grunts and lame pickup lines you may get at a bar. Now, online dating makes it easier for some people to be jerks too, so be ready to deal with extremes.

Search at Your Own Pace and With Less Pressure - Online dating allows you to take your time when searching and getting to know someone. Email correspondence can be sent when you have time. Video chats can be scheduled around work schedules. Video mail and text messages allow you to communicate when it's convenient. Also, because you don't need to "get ready" to online date, you can be more comfortable while you do some hardcore "getting to know you". Also, think of the first date: it won't be awkward as you would have already gotten past the initial chitchat and can dive into deeper topics.

More Selection, Expanded Dating Pool - Online dating makes the World your dating pool. Where you would normally be constrained to friends, friends of friends, co-workers and people you meet at a local bar, online dating lets you find someone from anywhere in the World. If you like travel and adventure, you could join an International Dating site where you could meet someone from another country.

Don't Give Out Your Information - "Can I have your email?" "What's your phone number?" There are questions you don't have to answer on many reputable online dating sites. Many services offer you private emails, chats and even phone calling features. This way, if you meet someone you don't click with, you don't have to worry about them calling you or showing up at your apartment uninvited.

So why not give online dating a try? There are many free and paid services available that cater to any desire. Just be careful, never send anyone money and never share personal information until you get to know the person. Take a deep breath a good luck!

Looking for Dates Online? 3 Tips for Men from a Seasoned Pro

Are you a single guy that's still looking for Mrs. Right? Stop lurking around the local Ladies' Nights to find your match and get online! Millions of men have squashed the negative stigmas of online dating and are enjoying meeting interesting women from all over the world. In order to be successful in finding your soul mate online, here are some important suggestions to help you out.

First things first: your profile. Some guys are so eager to start looking at the ladies' profiles that they rush through their own. Big mistake! Your profile is your introduction to the wonderful world of sexy, single women so you have to make a good first impression. Choose a user name that reflects your personality or your interests, not something raunchy or related to your body parts. Also, make sure your photos are current and you look clean. Shave, get a haircut, buy a new outfit if you have to; most ladies aren't attracted to sloppy looking slobs.

Another helpful tip is to manage your communication with care. Starting off by emailing a large pool of ladies is a good idea to get the correspondence going, but contacting too many can be too much to keep on top of. In addition, remember that your first emails are just an introduction and should be kept simple and light. Avoid divulging why you're looking for love online or mentioning past relationships. Be optimistic and refer to her profile, focusing on why you chose her and what things you have in common. Forget the creepy sex talk at the beginning and don't harass her with emails if you don't get a fast reply. Desperate, needy, and creepy are not qualities that will attract the ladies.

Staying safe is another important aspect of dating women online. It can be easy to forget about being discreet with your personal information since everyone posts so many details about their lives on social networking sites nowadays. There are unscrupulous web surfers looking for internet users that will give out their phone number or address without even thinking twice. Select an online dating service that offers a safe calling feature that blocks your real phone number so you can chat privately until you're ready to exchange your personal information.

Online dating is a smart and effective way to expand your options when searching for your other half. Plenty of studies and surveys have shown that online dating is becoming more acceptable, being used more often, and leads to actual relationships and even marriage for singles that meet this way. Just be honest, be yourself, and have fun finding your match!

Doctors and Teachers are Online Cheaters

"Life is short, have an affair" is the motto of the controversial dating website AshleyMadison.com.

They've recently revealed the professions of those most likely to cheat on their spouses, based on the most common jobs of their 2 million mischievious members.

These results may give a much larger meaning to the common conversation starter, "So what do you do for a living?"

The Top 5 professions of men who cheat are: Doctors, Cops, Lawyers, Real Estate Agents, and Engineers. The Top 5 for women are: Teachers, Stay-at-home Moms, Nurses, Administrative Assistants, and again the Real Estate Agents.

Are patients, criminals, and students just too sexy for docs, cops, and teachers to resist? And are the real estate agents more prevalent because they just have more opportunities with all those empty properties to show? (Now let me take you into the bedroom...) This gives a whole new meaning to Open House!

Frustrated With Online Dating? Don't Give Up!

Are you frustrated with online dating? You're not alone. Many men face frustration and disappointment before finally meeting the woman of their dreams on an Internet dating website. While you may want to give up, the key to success is to keep trying, no matter how difficult or hopeless the situation might seem.

Think about the traditional dating world. Nearly everyone has gone on a bad date or experienced a terrible breakup. However, few people give up on love because of one or two bad experiences. Internet dating should be no different.

Sometimes a promising online relationship will fizzle out. Other times a couple will meet in person and discover they are not right for one another. While these experiences can be hurtful and heartbreaking, they are a normal part of the courtship process and not something that should derail a man's search for the girl of his dreams.

Don't believe us? Here are a few tips from men who have successfully found love on online dating websites.
