Ukrainian Woman Goes Undercover as "Mail Order Bride"

What's On Kiev, an English language magazine in Ukraine, recently published an article about one woman's experience with a "mail order bride" agency. Her story offers a unique perspective on the controversial topic of international dating and shatters stereotypes about the women who look for love abroad. Here are a few common myths her story dismantles.

Ukrainian Women Are Desperate and Submissive

One of the most common stereotypes about women seeking love overseas is that they are meek, submissive creatures who are desperate to find (any) foreign man. This is illustrated by a gentleman named Richard who informs the author, Sasha, he is in the process of corresponding with three other women and will choose his favorite in a few months. Richard also tells Sasha when he wants to chat with her online and reprimands her when she misses the appointment due to work. It doesn’t occur to Richard that one of the women may not want him or that the ladies aren't obliged to follow his orders.

New Site Lets Moms Find Dates for Single Children

Meddling, matchmaking moms now have a new way to find their kid a date: Date My Single Kid!

Date My Single Kid is an online dating website that allows mothers to post dating profiles on behalf of their single, adult children. Interested suitors can respond to a profile by getting in touch with a single's mother (assuming mom thinks they're good enough, of course).

The website is the creation of Geri Brin, whose 31-year-old son, Colby, is "fit and funny, witty and willful, curious and cultured". Interested, ladies? Simply search "Colby" to get in touch (with his mother).

Believe it or not, Colby isn't embarassed by his mom's matchmaking attempts. As he recently told CNN:

"The way I look at it is I'm not sitting at home resting on my laurels. I'm meeting women, but she can also help. It can't hurt. I'm not embarrassed and I think it's pretty fun."

While it may seem strange, matchmaking parents are nothing new. Shaadi.com is a popular macthmaking site for Indian parents hoping to snag a spouse for their single children, and some parents in Japan throw matrimonial parties in attempt to marry off their offspring.

Dating can be tough. Why not let mom lend a helping hand?

Experimental Spray Helps Men Last Longer in Bed

First, there was the cuddle spray. Now there is a spray to help men battle premature ejaculation!

In a study conducted by researchers at the University of California, San Francisco, an experimental spray known as PSD502 helped subjects last five times longer in bed than men who took a placebo. PSD502 is a desensitizing drug that combines lidocaine and prilocain and works best when applied to the penis 5 minutes before sex. Men who used the spray reported feeling more satisfied with sex.

The findings were presented to the 2010 American Urological Association Annual Meeting in San Francisco. Approximately 30% of men between the ages of 15-59 suffer from premature ejaculation.

$2,000 a Month to Find Your Match?

Billing itself as "the most expensive dating site on the Internet," RichOnlySingles.com is for wealthy men and women who want to find a partner whose income is as impressive as their own. The service is a staggering $2,000 a month. Needless to say, lowly commoners need not apply.

“We launched the website as the first luxury dating site on the Internet," owner Mark Shidler said in a press release. "For the first time wealthy singles can find financially compatible partners."

At this point in time, RichOnlySingles.com has 94 male members and 76 females (even though the FAQ says thousands meet on their site daily). If you want to find "The One," er "The One Who Has Money Like Me" than perhaps you should give the service a try.

Matchmaking services that focus on income are nothing new. In fact, Bravo has a popular reality show called "Millionaire Matchmaker." Most seem to feature rich men who are willing to date women from any income bracket, but a few sites seek to match wealthy men and women with one another much like RichOnlySingles is attempting.

To each his own, but our guess is that relationships built on money don't last.

America's Fattest Cities

We've all heard about America's growing obesity problem, but some areas of the country are worse than others. Men's Health recently released their annual list of "America's Fattest Cities" and 5 Texas cities are among the top 10.

To determine the rankings, Men's Health calculated the percentage of people who are overweight, the percentage with type 2 diabetes, the percentage who haven't left the couch in a month (CDC Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System); the money spent on junk food (Bureau of Labor Statistics); and finally, the number of people who ate fast food nine or more times in a month (Mediamark Research).

Here are America's Top 10 Fattest Cities:

The Fart Blanket Saves Marriages!

Know anyone who’s getting married? Here’s a perfect gift: The Better Marriage Blanket, aka, The Fart Blanket.

The Fart blanket is dedicated not to spicing up a couple’s sex life or helping them through difficult times, but absorbing the odor of flatulence. It’s tough too. According to the Fart Blanket website, the bedding contains the same kind of fabric the military uses to shield soldiers from the effects of chemical weapons. How many other blankets can protect you from nerve gas AND your spouse’s silent but deadly emissions? Zero! That’s how many.

The Fart Blanket comes in white or beige and is available in Twin, Queen, and King (though we’d advise the Twin couples to invest in a joint bed instead). The websites claims the blanket makes a great wedding or anniversary gift and with Mother’s Day coming up we can’t help but think mom would love a Fart Blanket too. Buy one today!

Still not sold? Check out the commercial below.

New "Cuddle Spray" Makes Men More Sensitive and Affectionate

Manly men beware! German researchers claim to have developed a nasal spray that can make even the most macho of men sensitive and caring.

The “cuddle spray" is full of the hormone oxytocin, which is best known for its role in childbirth. However, researchers say oxytocin can also help men get in touch with their feminine side. They came to this conclusion after an experiment revealed that men who used the spray reacted more empathetically to emotionally-charged photos than men who were given a placebo. According to Dr. Rene Hurlemann, a scientist on the project, spray users reached "levels of sensitivity usually found in females.”

No word on when the spray will be available for purchase. I don't know about you but when it comes to relationship altering drugs, I prefer Spanish Fly.

Dating Horror Stories From Hell

Everyone has a dating horror story, but some of the tales on ItWasOverWhen.com really take the cake. Here are a few of our favorites from the site dedicated to “tales of romantic dead ends.”

“I knew it was over when my boyfriend of 7 years came home from work and asked me: If I was to die, could he have me stuffed and mounted? No wonder he had all of those mannequins.”

“On our second date, she informed me she was pregnant. Mind you, we didn’t do a damn thing. After I pointed this out, she claimed it to be an Immaculate Conception. And I’m quoting her, ‘I might be the next Virgin Mary’” I just walked out of the restaurant.”

“Started dating a girl and it was good until 3 months after when she wanted me to meet her family visiting from Alabama. Turns out they are “KKK” members. I’m African American.”

“It was over when I came home and found a Ziploc bag filled with poo left on my kitchen counter next to a note ‘Had a great time—you rocked my night! XXX’ with her phone number. She had broken the toilet and I guess was too mortified to leave her business in the bowl, so she scooped it out, bagged it and forgot it on the counter.”

“Half way through sex, my boyfriend looked at the clock and said, ‘Oh crap its 4:25 my crops are going to wither!’ and proceeded to go to the computer to harvest his crop on Farmville, an online game.”

Have a horror story of your own?  The site is constantly accepting new submissions so feel free to shame your ex in front of the entire world.

Frustrated With Online Dating? Don't Give Up!

Are you frustrated with online dating? You're not alone. Many men face frustration and disappointment before finally meeting the woman of their dreams on an Internet dating website. While you may want to give up, the key to success is to keep trying, no matter how difficult or hopeless the situation might seem.

Think about the traditional dating world. Nearly everyone has gone on a bad date or experienced a terrible breakup. However, few people give up on love because of one or two bad experiences. Internet dating should be no different.

Sometimes a promising online relationship will fizzle out. Other times a couple will meet in person and discover they are not right for one another. While these experiences can be hurtful and heartbreaking, they are a normal part of the courtship process and not something that should derail a man's search for the girl of his dreams.

Don't believe us? Here are a few tips from men who have successfully found love on online dating websites.
